Introducing Morgana Moore, the grumpy old spinster of Castaway Cove. After spending her life with a cruel father and a bitter mother, she didn’t have much hope to live a relatively normal life. Her background originated from a prisoner that was being transported on the Silver Bird to a holding facility, when the typhoon hit and he escaped and went into hiding. He became known as ‘Malicious Moore’ and had been up for murder and assault on a number of occasions. Somewhere along that line, Morgana’s great grandparents appeared and the Moore’s came into being.
Morgana lived with her estranged mother for many years. People that knew Morgana didn’t understand how she survived her torturous parents and came out relatively normal. Her mother would lock poor Morgana in a room under the stairs as punishment for anything that she considered evil or a sin. It may have been something as simple as dropping a plate or refusing to eat some strange foods her mother had cooked. Her mother was a bizarre woman and she consistently brought younger men into her home to meet Morgana, almost forcing them upon her. This was how Darrell Johnston became hooked up with her for a time. They even married at one point, but it didn’t last very long. They didn’t even see their first year anniversary.
All the delivery services would bolt if they saw Morgana outside; they would drop their deliveries and take off as fast as they could. It was as if she were bewitched or something and would cast a spell on them if she looked at them.
Morgana was not very well off, but she was resourceful. Her two loves were books and gardening and that suited her isolated life perfectly. Every time people would speak to her they would be on their guard the whole time.
As soon as she moved into her humble home she immediately started a garden, she searched the neighbourhood high and low, looking for abandoned seeds and used the vegies and fruit in her fridge to begin her garden. Many didn't take but eventually she had a good collection of vegies and fruit growing well.
What she did spend her money on were alarms. She had alarms everywhere, in the house, several outside and lights everywhere. At times this paid off. Several times her place was targeted by criminal types. Not that she had anything of value to steal, but she had a reputation that young kids looking for thrills and peril just loved. She came to be known as, Morgana the Malevolent.’ Everyone saw her as a witch with magical or wonder-working powers.

She had one friend who considered her as a normal person. Ella May Dickson understood Morgana. She had seen how her mother and father had treated her and was the only person that Morgana would talk to. They went to school together and had similar interests. They had known each other for a very long time.
Morgana had so much energy, not too many people could keep up with her. She never took a cab to go shopping. She would either jog or walk and although it would take her a long time she would often set off while still dark and always be one of the first customers to arrive. She never seemed to put on weight and had a build like a lot of marathon contenders.
In fact Morgana had won many medals for marathons and other athletic feats over the years and had kept them all. She would often go over and stare at them and she kept them all in pristine condition. They were like her comfort rug and the only things that kept her from going completely mad when she was a youngster. It was one thing that her mother allowed her to do as it set her up to look good. Morgana grasped at the opportunity for a little bit of independence and recognition.
Other times, however, she would collapse on the floor and fall asleep with exhaustion wherever she happened to be, but that was usually when she had spent hours out in her garden, not when she was on an outing.

Her garden continued to be her pride and joy and everything seemed to grow prolifically. It was not long and she had a rich and productive garden. Every time she went out she would search the ground for new and unique seeds that may not have an identity until they were grown.
Not only did she become proficient at gardening, but since no man was around to do things for her, she learnt to be a handy-woman very quickly. She became so adept at fending for herself that she was soon able to upgrade even the cheapest of appliances and electrical equipment to much more effective working utensils.
One evening just before dawn, she had been sitting in front of one of her favourite places, the book store. She was reading recipes on how to make Eggs Machiavelli when a very overweight man happened to cross her path. Although she had steered clear of men of any type for so many years she was shocked when she found herself involved in a conversation with him. He was a very troubled young man and she almost felt sorry for him. They seemed to have one thing in common.
